New outfit for my character Ilo Sprig; designed for Anime Evolution in Vancouver, BC.
Everything is designed and made by myself except for the sword (courtesy William De Jeu), necklace, bracelet, and boots (not visible)
Ilo's looking a lot more like a proper caster here, but I think it'll take a formal education before she abandons her peasant style in-game. LOL! That's not her weapon, BTW. I stole it off Gilik for the photo. Ilo doesn't have a sword, but every girl should have a boffer
and I were there promoting our local LARP group Inritius Alliance (ialarp.com) Hopefully I did my part to make a good impression for Canadian LARPing.
I used industrial sized zap straps for plastic boning, and for this corset I used two layers of fabric: inside is canvas, and the outside is white 'Daytona' vinyl.
First of all: Love love LOVE IT! Second of all: On a scale of 1 to OMG DEATH how difficult was it to make? (is looking into making something similar but has NO idea)
It was actually a rather quick piece to make. It had to be because I had classes all summer to worry about.I used a gauzey crinkle cotton for the dress, so I didn't bother hemming it. I just left the edges raw which was rather naughty of me, and I didn't have to worry about it being shapeless because of the corset over top.
The corset was the most involved part of the entire outfit. I had to custom make the pattern because my bust size is so ridiculous, and I didn't want to buy a good white steel-boned piece from my usual favourite maker (www.deadlyfetish.com) I don't usually wear white. As always I should have taken in the sizing more, but I always think I'm being silly when I take down the waist measurements.
The straps are actually a separate front and back piece so that I could put on the dress, do up the corset, and THEN pin them. It meant that they always sat properly.
I'd love to try a version with an under-bust cincher instead, but it would be hilarious and I'd have to be more careful about the dress design. I could always pin it as a nice cowl-necked peplos of course and eliminate all the measuring
And hell yeah IA! I'm familiar due to the fact that I'm a stupidly newb member
